Belthangady: Husband dies by suicide after wife’s unnatural death

Belthangady, Sep 23, 2026: A man allegedly died by suicide at his residence in Shishila village, days after his wife’s body was found in a pond under suspicious circumstances.

The deceased has been identified as Thaniyappa Gowda, a resident of Gundikkadu.

According to reports, Thaniyappa had been missing for the past two to three days. Members of the Shaurya Disaster Management team conducted a search and found him hanging inside his house.

Recently, the body of his wife Chinnamma was found in a pond on a neighbouring property. The exact cause of her death was not immediately known.

Following a complaint by Chinnamma’s brother Gangadhara Gowda, who expressed suspicion over her death, a case had been registered at the Dharmasthala police station.

Following the discovery of Thaniyappa’s body, police visited the spot, conducted an inspection and registered a case. Further investigation is underway.
