Mangalore, July 29, 2013: Various organisations under the aegis of Namma Tulunadu Trust will organize a Hakkothaya Jatha on September 7 urging the state government to implement Tulu language  as the official language of the state and also to include it in the 8th schedule of the  Indian Constitution.

Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on July 29, Monday G V S Ullal, Founder President of the Trust said that Tulu language in south India has a history of 3000 years and spoken by more than one crore people. Such a rich language must get the classical status in state and must be included in the 8th schedule of the Indian Constitution, he said. The government has not responded to the demand despite several appeals, he said.

The jatha will commence from Jyothi circle to DC Office and will conclude with a  Hakkothaya meeting there. The participating organisations must register the name of their organisation before August 7 with the Trust. The preparatory meeting of all committee presidents will be held at Sri Krishna Kalyana Mandir, Mallikatte, Kadri on August 10, he said.

Honorary President of the Trust Harikrishna Punaroor, Treasurer Vidyasri Rai and members Mohammed Arif and Krishna Bhat were present.
