Hindu organizations not related to church incident – VHP President Jagadish Shenava

Mangalore, Nov 6, 2011: Addressing reporters at a press meet held on Nov 5 Saturday, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Vice President Jagadeesh Shenava urged the media not to establish false connections between the recent vandalism at St. Alphonsa Church in Kankanady and Hindu organizations. 

Stating that certain newspapers and news portals have depicted the incident as an “attack on churches,” he said that this creates the wrong impression regarding Hindu organizations such as VHP and Bajrang Dal among the people. 

Stating that certain news reports state that there is unethical activity going on in the church, he said that the police have made a few arrests, but are hiding the truth. He also said that the VHP demands COD investigations into this incident so that the truth is revealed to the public. He also urged the government to take action against any such illegal activity if media reports regarding it are true. 

Stating that Hindu organizations have nothing to do with the incident, he stated that the arrested is a convert from Hinduism to Christianity. He also condemned the police for arresting innocent people and urged them to stop taking innocent Hindus into custody. 

VHP President Manohar Tulajaram and VHP Chief Secretary Gopal Kuthar were also present.
