Heavy Rain: Holiday for Schools and Anganwadis in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi on August 18

Mangaluru, Aug 18, 2025: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner H. V. Darshan declared a holiday for all schools and anganwadis in the district on August 18 in view of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing red alert for the coastal belt of Karnataka.
The holiday applies to all government, private and government aided private schools.
The District Disaster Management Authority advised fishermen to stay away from marine fishing, and people were advised not to visit beaches and river banks.
Udupi: With the India Meteorological Department issuing a red alert for the coastal region and heavy rains lashing the district, Deputy Commissioner Swaroop T.K. has declared a holiday on Monday, August 18, for all anganwadis, classes 1 to 10 in primary and high schools, pre-university colleges, and ITIs across Udupi district.
