Red alert in Kasaragod: Holiday declared for all educational institutions amid heavy rain forecast

Kasaragod, Jun 6, 2026: In view of the Red Alert issued for the district and the forecast of extremely heavy rainfall, the district administration has declared a holiday for all educational institutions on Saturday.

As per the order issued by the District Collector, the holiday will apply to professional colleges, government and private schools, anganwadis, tuition centres, ICSE and CBSE schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, madrasas, and all other religious educational institutions.

However, the administration has clarified that the holiday will not apply to residential schools. The decision has been taken considering the safety of students.

The District Collector also stated that university examinations, public examinations, and interviews already scheduled for the day will be conducted as planned, with no changes to their timetable.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast extremely heavy rainfall in Kasaragod district. Authorities have urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel and remain vigilant during the adverse weather conditions.
