Govt firm on going ahead with Niddodi Power Project

Mangalore Today News Network

Siddaramaiah on NiddodiMangalore, July 25, 2013: It has now become almost certain that a 4000 mw  ultra mega thermal power plant would come up at Niddodi.

The written reply given to BJP member K Monappa Bhandari on July 24, Wednesday by SR Patil, Leader of the House, on behalf of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah who also holds the Energy Portfolio,  gave clear indications in this regard. The reply said of the 12 ultra mega thermal power plants proposed to be set up by the Centre in various states, one was allotted  to Karnataka.

The reply also stated that  a Central team has already visited  Niddodi for an inspection of the site. The issue of availability of land for the project would be  reviewed after talks with the KIADB. Steps would be taken to implement the project after securing the approval of the Central Environment Ministry as well as the Forest Ministry, the reply said.

The written reply has also defended the Government’s decision to set up the power plant at Niddodi  by referring to the rule that  a ultra mega thermal power plant should be located close by the shoreline or in  places which are close by areas where coal is available.

Dear Balakrishna, if you dont allow power project to come, our Tulu Rajya will be forever remain in dark. and our generation has use candles at night. we all fight for Electricity for Mangalore, Udupi and Kundapur from this power project. and suitable compensation and job opportunities for each member of family those who sacrifice there land for this project.

Our CM lost his equillibrium the moment he got elected. First thing he wanted to ensure cheaper liquor for the poor. He did not think of good education and good food for them yet. Now he wants to earn from the contractors and sub-contractors etc in Niddodi project like many politicians and officials made money in UPCL. We cannot accept the ruling by unknown from the other side of the Ghats. We need to get independent Tulu Rajya so that we can keep our future generation safe.
