Siddaramaiah on NiddodiMangalore, July 25, 2013: It has now become almost certain that a 4000 mw  ultra mega thermal power plant would come up at Niddodi.

The written reply given to BJP member K Monappa Bhandari on July 24, Wednesday by SR Patil, Leader of the House, on behalf of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah who also holds the Energy Portfolio,  gave clear indications in this regard. The reply said of the 12 ultra mega thermal power plants proposed to be set up by the Centre in various states, one was allotted  to Karnataka.

The reply also stated that  a Central team has already visited  Niddodi for an inspection of the site. The issue of availability of land for the project would be  reviewed after talks with the KIADB. Steps would be taken to implement the project after securing the approval of the Central Environment Ministry as well as the Forest Ministry, the reply said.
