Fraudsters create fake social media accounts impersonating Udupi DC to demand money

Udupi, January 15, 2026: Officials have reported that fake accounts impersonating Udupi District Deputy Commissioner Swaroopa T K have been created on Facebook and WhatsApp, circulating messages requesting money.
These fraudulent accounts have been used to send money-seeking messages to individuals for various reasons. A complaint has already been filed at the Udupi CEN police station regarding the issue.
Despite this, such messages continue to be sent from these fake accounts. The district administration has strongly advised the public not to send money to anyone.
The deputy commissioner has urged people to ignore these messages and stay vigilant against online fraud.
