Mangaluru, Dec 28, 2025: The Diocese of Mangalore formally concluded the Jubilee Year of Hope 2025 with a solemn ceremony at Our Lady of Holy Rosary Cathedral, Rosario, on Sunday. The closing celebration coincided with the Feast of the Holy Family and marked the end of a year-long spiritual journey for the Catholic community.

Bishop of Mangalore Dr Peter Paul Saldanha presided over the stational Mass, joined by several priests and diocesan officials. Following special Jubilee rites, the concluding ceremony centred on the decorated Jubilee Cross, which symbolised the year’s spiritual focus. The faithful offered intercessory prayers for the Church and the world, made charitable offerings for the poor, and received Holy Communion under both kinds.
After the post-communion prayer, Bishop Saldanha led the congregation in the Te Deum, expressing gratitude for the graces and indulgences received during the Jubilee Year.
In his homily, the bishop said that although the Jubilee Year had ended, the call to hope must continue. He urged families to emulate the Holy Family of Nazareth by practising compassion, humility, kindness and patience. He also noted that the Jubilee Year was a period of special grace, with eight designated shrines in the diocese serving as centres for indulgence.
The ceremony concluded with a solemn blessing and a dismissal exhorting the faithful to remain steadfast and ready to bear witness to the hope within them.
