Belthangady, December 11, 2025: A senior official from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Dharmasthala mass burial case said that the Belthangady court has adjourned the hearing on the complaint report submitted before it to December 26.
The official clarified that the document submitted is not a chargesheet but a complaint report focusing specifically on allegations of perjury. “It is now for the court to independently decide whether to accept or reject the findings of the complaint report,” the official said.
Dismissing speculations, the official added that the court has not issued any directive asking the SIT to file the final report at the earliest. Refusing to elaborate further, the official noted that the matter is sub judice and cannot be discussed in detail.
The source also stated that the team continues to gather and document additional evidence related to the mass burial case, and several supporting materials are still under examination.
Although the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Mangaluru granted bail to the complainant witness on November 24, he has not yet been released, as the family is still in the process of arranging the required surety.
