Mangaluru, May 2, 2025: Dakshina Kannada MP, MLAs, and former MP have condemned the murder of Suhas Shetty.

Dakshina Kannada MP Captain Brijesh Chowta in his X handle post said “activist Suhas fell victim to the cowardly act of religious fanatics. Law and order in the state has completely collapsed. Despite repeated warnings that the atrocities of fanatic forces are increasing, the Congress government led by Siddaramaiah has turned a blind eye towards it and is directly responsible for the murder.”

MLA D Vedavyasa Kamath said the Congress government led by Siddaramaiah encouraged criminals by withdrawing cases against SDPI and PFI activists. "We have urged the police to arrest the culprits immediately and punish them as per the law. The police have failed to keep a watch on the movements of those involved in the murder of Hindu activists in the district. As a result, this murder has taken place. The state government is indirectly supporting the murder accused,” he alleged.

Mangalore City North MLA Bharath Shetty said there is no protection for Hindu activists in the state. "Anti-social elements are supported by the government. It is a pre-planned murder. We have been urging the police to keep a watch on the movements of those involved in the murder of Hindu activists. However, our pleas have been neglected by the department.," he said.

Former MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said there has been an increase in the attack on Hindus after the Congress government came to power in the state. In spite of that, the government kept quiet and did not take strict action against the perpetrators. "If the government fails to act in this case, then we will demand an NIA probe. The government should announce compensation to the family of the deceased," he said.

Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja said that the Hindu society would not keep quiet and would give an answer in the coming days. "We are committed to the protection of Hindu workers. Owing to the negligence of the police, we have lost an honest Hindu karyakartha. The law and order situation has failed completely in the state. What were the intelligence and police department doing all these days? Jihadi mindset is responsible for the murder. The video footage clearly shows that it was a pre-planned murder as none of the onlookers came to the rescue,” he added.
