Mangalore, Jan 21, 2012 : The DK Youth Congress Committee organized an eye donation camp at Town Hall on Jan 21 Saturday. Rizwan Arshad, the president of Karnataka State Youth Congress, inaugurated the event.

In his inaugural address, he said that this is the first eye donation camp organized by the Congress in Karnataka. Complaining that the state government is not implementing any central government schemes in a proper manner, he said that the BJP has so far not provided a good youth policy. He also alleged that the BJP along with pro Hindu outfits of Sangh Parivar - Bajarang Dal VHP, and Shri Rama Sene are misusing the power to create communal unrest.

Stating that the act of hoisting Pakistani flag in Bijapur is an anti-national act, he said that the BJP is responsible for it and that the culprits must be severely punished for it.

Complaining that the state government has hardly managed to provide 1000 job opportunities in spite of its promises to generate 1 lakh job opportunities, he said that the present government is on the verge of collapsing. He also predicted that the BJP will never come to power again because it does not have any achievement to its credit.

 

Speaking on the occasion, senior Congress leader Dinesh Gundu Rao said that politicians ought to work for the welfare of the state. Speaking of the importance of building the party at the grass root level, he said that the leaders and party workers should work hard.

B. Janardhan Poojary, senior Congress leader and former central minister, presided over thefunction. Mr. Poojary was mooved by the blind artists who danced along with his Guru.  He collected a sum of Rs. 57,000 from the dignitaries on the dais and off the dais, on the spot and presented it to artistes- Dr. Raksha Karthik and her blind student Manjappa.

He also presented eye donation forms filled in by 200 young people to Dr. Krishna Prasad of Prasad Nethralaya.

Congress leaders MLA Ramanath Rai, Ivan D’Souza, Mithun Rai, Moideen Bawa, Bondala Jagannath, Mamatha Gatty, MLA U. T. Khader, and others were present.
