DCIB team raids unlicensed slaughter house, arrest 3

Mangalore, Nov 8, 2011 : A DCIB police team, under the leadership of Inspector Ganesh Hegde, raided an unlicensed slaughter house set up on a temporary basis on the eve of Bakrid, located in Janatha Colony, Chandranagara, Padoor, and arrested 3 people. The police also rescued cattle stored for slaughter.
The arrested are Hasanabba Beary (66) of Janatha Colony, the slaughter house owner, Rahim (28), and Yasin (32). Their companion Manju fled when he saw the DCIB team. The police raided the slaughter house at 7:00 a.m. based on a tip.
The people of the locality protested that slaughtering cattle was part of Bakrid and that they must be permitted to eat beef.
However, the police arrested the trio and produced them in court because they failed to produce any license to run a slaughter house.
