Mangalore, Oct 25, 2013 : Customs officials have seized nearly 2.5 kg of gold which were smuggled in by two flights at the Mangalore International Airport on October 24, Thursday. One person has been arrested in this connection.
In the first incident, Customs officials found 1.5 kg gold in the luggage of a passenger who arrived by the Air India Express flight from Dubai. He has been taken into custody.
In another case, security personnel at the airport found 1 kg of gold hidden beneath the seat of a Jet Airways flight that arrived from Dubai. The gold has been handed over to customs officials.
In yet another case, the gold was found coated with steel and six such rods have been found.
