Corrupt officials will face stern action, warns CM Siddaramaiah

Mangalore, Sep 30, 2013 :  “The Government will mercilessly initiate action against officials involved in corruption and those resorting to dereliction of duty. There is no question of succumbing to pressure from any corner, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Participating in the district level progress review meeting at the  DC office on September 29, Sunday he said  the government wants to bring visible changes and asked the district administration to function much more sincerity and  efficiency.

I have been receiving complaints of corrupt practices in  police stations and taluk level offices. The  government officials should redress public grievances on a priority basis, he said.

He also informed that he has issued instructions to the police department to initiate stern action against those inciting communal tension. He said he would organize a Janatha Darshan programme during his next visit to the district.

During the meeting all elected representatives of the district cutting across party lines appealed to the Chief Minister to reconsider the Netravathi River Diversion Project as it would have a detrimental effect on the district  as well as the Western Ghat area. 

Those who appealed to the CM  included Ministers from DK namely Ramanatha Rai, Abhayachandra Jain, Vinaykumar Sorake, UT Khader, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLAs JR Lobo, Moidin Bava, Vasanth Bangera, Shaktunala Shetty, S Angara and MLC K Monappa Bhandari.
