Congress rubbishes allegations of party’s involvement in illegal mining: MLA UT Khader

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, May 11: MLA U. T. Khader rubbished the allegations made by D. V. Sadananda Gowda, the MP of Udupi, that the JD(S) and the Congress have powerful mining interests. He was addressing reporters at a press conference held at the office of the district Congress on May 11, Wednesday. He also alleged that the BJP has produced false documents related to mining activities in Bellary and other places in Karnataka to confuse the public.

Stating that CM B. S. Yeddyurappa had agreed that mining worth Rs. 2 lakh has taken place when he was in power, he said that the CM is in charge of the mines and geology department, the forest department, the home department, and the RTO department, owing to which trucks carrying loads of iron ore cross 16 check posts without anybody knowing anything about them.

He also pointed out that while the Congress is ready to hand over the mining scam investigation to the CBI, the BJP is attempting to escape investigations.

He also urged the state government to extend the term of Justice Santhosh Hegde and postpone his retirement.

Sudhir T. K., KPCC General Secretary Ivan D’Souza, and others were also present.
