Mangaluru, Mar 20, 2026: Mangaluru Police Commissioner Sudheer Reddy has stated that the sexual harassment allegations made a few days ago by two women against Moodbidri Inspector Sandesh are completely false and malicious.

He clarified that a comprehensive preliminary inquiry into the matter found no truth in the complaints filed by Sumathi Nayak and Avita Menezes.

False Complaint Filed with Malicious Intent:

The investigation revealed that the complaints lodged by Sumathi Nayak and Avita Menezes were motivated by ill intent and aimed at trapping the officer. The Commissioner stated that no supporting evidence was found to substantiate the allegations.

In connection with the case, the women seen in the audio and video clips circulating on social media have admitted that the clips are theirs. However, they have refused to file any official complaint against the officer. The investigation has also revealed that these videos were misused by Vinod Pinto and others for their personal interests, the Commissioner said.

Although the current sexual harassment allegations against the officer have been found to be false, the department has taken serious note of his actual misconduct seen in the audio and video clips. Disciplinary action has already been initiated against him based on his past behaviour, the Commissioner added.

The Commissioner emphasized that ensuring the safety of women visiting police stations and treating them with dignity is a top priority for the police. He said the incident serves as a lesson for the entire department, and measures will be taken to prevent such behaviour in the future. At the same time, he warned that legal action will also be taken against those who file false complaints out of personal vendetta and attempt to mislead investigations.
