Mysuru, Mar 21, 2026: The president of the Karnataka State LPG Cylinder Distributors’ Association, Mysuru-based Meyhul J. Patel, has clarified that there is no disruption in domestic LPG supply, though commercial refills are being regulated due to the ongoing West Asia conflict.
He said domestic consumers continue to receive LPG refills smoothly upon booking. However, e-KYC has been made mandatory, and delivery now requires a one-time password (OTP). Customers who have not completed the e-KYC process have been urged to do so at the earliest.
Patel also noted that consumers with piped natural gas (PNG) connections are being asked to surrender their LPG connections. Authorities are identifying duplicate connections in coordination with PNG service providers, and such LPG connections will be withdrawn.
Refills of 5 kg free-trade LPG (FTL) cylinders have been suspended. He added that service providers have already exhausted their FTL stock and are currently unable to offer these refills.
Meanwhile, commercial LPG supply to petrochemical industries and community halls has been halted and diverted to the hotel sector. Karnataka has received 10,000 commercial LPG refill cylinders, which will be distributed only to outlets registered with district or city associations. Supplies to hotels and restaurants will be coordinated with hotel owners’ associations.
Additionally, a mandatory inspection (MI) of all LPG connections will be carried out at a fee of ₹250. This safety check, conducted once every five years by authorised mechanics, includes inspection of the stove, regulator, and rubber tube for leaks and defects to ensure safe usage.
