Mangalore, Dec 22, 2011: Vincent Prakash Carlo, who won the gold medal at the Commonwealth Unequipped Bench-press Championship 2011, which was held in London on Dec 15 – 18, was warmly welcomed at Mangalore Central Railway Station on the morning of Dec 22 Thursday.
Vincent was welcomed by a large welcome team comprising the members of the Balanjaneya Gym and Silva’s Multi Gym, KPCC Secretary Ivan D’Souza, former Mr. World Raymond D’Souza, Alwyn D’Silva, Excise Department Deputy Superintendent Prashanth Kumar, and Coach Sathish Kudroli.
Vincent Carlo, who is employed at the Mangalore Excise Department and hails from Nanthoor, arrived by the Bangalore to Mangalore at 8:15 a.m. He was garlanded and crackers were burst to celebrate his achievement.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Carlo said that the cold weather of London made it difficult for them to perform, but he is happy to win the medal. He also expressed his gratitude to all those who welcomed him.
Mr. Carlo was taken in an open jeep from the railway station to Balanjaneya Gym and then to the Silva’s Multi Gym, with band music playing in the backdrop.
