Mangalore, Dec 22, 2011: Karnataka Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda on Thursday won legislative council bypoll comfortably getting 123 votes in his favour while the Opposition Congress could manage only 69 votes.
The Janata Dal Secular MLAs abstained from voting while seven votes were declared invalid.
Gowda who was not a member of either House of the State Assembly earlier and as per the constitution, needed to get elected to the state legislature to stay on as the Chief Minister within six months of coming to power.
