Mangaluru, Oct 12, 2025: The Urva police have registered a case against Malayalam film actor Jayakrishnan and two others for allegedly making racially abusive and insulting remarks against a taxi driver in the city.

The accused have been identified as Jayakrishnan, Santosh Abraham, and Vimal. According to police, the incident took place on the night of October 9 when the trio booked a taxi through the Uber and Rapido apps, with the pickup point listed as New Road, Bejai.

The complainant, Ahmad Shafiq, stated that when he called to confirm the pickup location, the accused allegedly hurled verbal abuse at him, calling him a “Muslim extremist” and a “terrorist.” He further alleged that the men used derogatory Hindi and Malayalam slurs targeting his religion and family.

Police sources said the trio appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and allegedly created a nuisance by repeatedly changing their pickup locations.

Based on the complaint, a case has been registered under Sections 352 and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Two of the accused have been detained for questioning, police added.
