Further, he said that B. S. Yeddyurappa, the former chief minister, came to power assuring that he will provide 35kgs of rice at Rs. 2 per kg, but began stating that he will implement it before the end of his term after coming to power. Since he has resigned, the people have to give up all hopes of getting food grains at subsidized rates, he added.

Stating that there are one crore ration cards in Karnataka, he said that even if rice is sold at Re 1 per kilo, the government will lose Rs. 35 crore from its funds every month. Instead of providing rice to the poor, the government is giving away crores to swamijis and mutts.

Speaking on the occasion, G. N. Nagaraj, the state secretary, said today that the prices of petrol, food, and gold has gone up, making it difficult for people to get their basic needs daily.

Speaking of the various problems faced by the people, such as unemployment, price hike, terrorism, and communalism, he said that the corrupt BJP and Congress and responsible for it.
Regarding the Food Security Act, he said that the country’s godowns stock 6 crore tons of rice and wheat, but it doesn’t reach the poor people; instead it is destroyed by ants and worms. In spite of this, Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh are unwilling to release these food grains to the people. If they release at least 10 lakh ton of rice and wheat in 15 days, the prices of essential commodities will come down.
