Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Oct 24, 2011: Interacting with reporters on the sidelines of his visit to Sullia to participate in a BJP-organized meeting today, CM D. V. Sadananda Gowda criticized the opposition’s demand to dissolve the State Assembly in the wake of several BJP leaders being taken into judicial custody on various counts of corruption.

Sadanada GowdaSuggesting that the Congress leaders must demand the resignation of the union government for corruption, he pointed out that Congress leaders in Karnataka should not forget that Congress leaders at the center are on their way to prison for involvement in a wide range of scams.

He accused the Congress of making baseless allegations against the BJP-led state government in Karnataka just to divert the public’s attention for the party’s failure at the centre. He said that the Congress leaders should urge Sonia Gandhi to dissolve the union government if they are really against corruption.

Most of the CM’s tirade against the Congress was in response to opposition leader Siddaramaiah’s demands that the BJP should face fresh elections. Siddaramaiah had stated that the large number of BJP leaders in jail over charges of corruption proves the party’s inability to curb corruption. He had also stated that the BJP has no moral rights to continue ruling because it had failed to provide clean governance to the people of the state.
