Mangalore, Sep 21, 2013: The CITU organised a huge protest in front of the DC office in the city on September 20, Friday in support of several of its demands including minimum wages for labourers, supply of ration commodities to all families and strict implementation of labour rules.
B Madhava, CITU Central Committee leader who spoke on the occasion alleged that the government had not responded positively to the several demands of the working class which have been pleading for social security, pension facility and ban on FDI. He also said the trade unions will have no other go but to intensify the protest if the demands went unheeded.
Earlier the protestors took out a jatha from the Jyothi Circle to the DC office braving the heavy downpour.
Leaders and representatives of various organizations like Beedi Workers Union, Autorickshaw Drivers and Owners Association took part in the protest.
