Mangalore, Oct 24, 2013: Campus Front of India (CFI) took out a rally University College, Hampankatta to DC’s office on October 24, Thursday demanding to hand over Sowjanya rape and murder case to CBI.
Addressing the protestors, CFI state president Mohammed Iqbal said that even after a year, police department have failed to arrest the real culprit and provide justice to Sowjanya’s parents. Even though Sowjanya’s parents tell that mentally ill person is not a culprit, the police have fixed him in the case.
He also criticized the few elected political leaders who participated in the programme organized by Dr Veerendra Heggade. The police are trying to destroy the evidence and close the case. Hence the government must hand over case to CBI.
But the rally turned out chaotic after the protestors tried to gatecrash into DC office and Pandeshwar police stopped and taken them to police station in the vehicles.
State committee member Mohammed Thufail, state secretary Mohammed Tafseer, district president Sanaulla and many others were present.
