Belthangady: Husband stabs wife to death in Thekkaru

Belthangady, July 17, 2025: A woman who was assaulted by her husband during a domestic dispute in Thekkaru village of Belthangady taluk succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday while undergoing treatment.

The deceased has been identified as Zeenath (40), a resident of Bajaru near Thekkaru. She was married to Rafeeq around 18 years ago, and the couple has two children. According to police, the couple had been experiencing marital discord for the past few months, leading to frequent arguments.

Stab case

On the morning of July 17, a heated argument broke out between them, during which Rafeeq allegedly attacked Zeenath with a knife, causing severe injuries. Locals and relatives immediately rushed her to the government hospital in Puttur. However, despite the efforts of the medical staff, she could not be saved.

A case has been registered at Uppinangady police station under Crime No. 64/2025 and Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Investigation is ongoing.
