Udupi, May 30, 2026: The Udupi District Congress Committee staged a massive protest on May 30 against what it termed the anti-people policies of the Central Government. A large number of party leaders and workers from across the district participated in the demonstration.

The protest march began from the District Congress office in Udupi and passed through the city before concluding at Jodukatte. Protesters raised slogans against the Central Government, alleging administrative failures and demanding accountability on several issues affecting the public.

Alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process and the NEET examination scam were among the key issues highlighted during the protest. Congress leaders accused the Centre of weakening democratic institutions and jeopardising the future of students through alleged misuse of power and lack of transparency.

As protesters attempted to intensify their agitation at Jodukatte, police intervened and detained several Congress leaders and workers. The protesters were later taken into custody as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order.
