Mangalore, Aug 10, 2013 : As investigations into the Moodbidri Siddantha Darshana Mandir theft case continues following the arrest of four persons including the prime accused, reports of late reveal that the golden ingots which were reportedly seized from the house of the main accused in Bhabaneshwar were not actually the ones which were available after the stolen idols were melted.
It is also being said that the ancient idols have already been sold in Bangkok for as much as Rs 2400 crores.
It is also being said that Subash Sancheti, the jeweler from Durg in Chattisgarh who was arrested on charges of purchasing the idols has told the police that the real idols were hidden for international smuggling.
It is also reliably learnt that a partner of the AT Group jewelers along with Subhash Sanchethi were the masterminds behind the theft. Further sources also reveal that Subhash was the brother-in-law of the partner of AT Group one Ashok Badediya.
Gajendra Jain, Regional president of Akhil Bharatiya Digambar Jain Samaj in Chhatisgarh, is of the strong view that there was political pressure on Karnataka Government to close the case and that the police in Chattisgarh were not co-operating in the probe.
The Jain Samaj has already met union minister Dr M Veerappa Moily and home minister Sushilkumar Shinde seeking the help of the Interpol in investigating the case and also a CBI probe into the case.
