Bantwal girl Manvitha stands second in state in SSLC exams

Mangalore, May 6, 2013: Manvitha MK, a student of Vishwa Mangala High School Konaje has made the entire district proud. This  meritorious student has stood second in the state in the SSLC exams, the results of which were announced on May 6, Monday. Manvitha has scored 621 out of the total 625 marks.

 

Manvitha MK 2nd rank in SSLCManvitha is the daughter of Shobha M, a housewife and AN Mohandas who works in a welding shop in Bantwal. She hails from Kamblapadavu in Pajir village of Bantwal Taluk.


 Manvitha scored 125 in English, 100 in Social Studies and Mathematics and 99 in Hindi and Kannada and 98 in Science. She shared the rank with Nagarjuna of Holichild Highschool, Bangalore and Prerana of Adichunchanagiri, Shimoga.Sudheendra of Vijaya Highschool in Bangalore stood first in the state by scoring 622 out of 625.


Manvitha’s parents are extremely happy over their daughter’s performance. Says Shobha, her mother “ Manvitha’s academic records have been consistent. She was not only good in studies but also in extra curricular activities and has won   prizes in various competitions.” She has won third place ‘Prathibhakaranji’ in drawing at the state level. She has been winning prizes in the Anche Kuncha for the last three years.


Shobha M., her mother, said she guided her daughter, who studied on her own. Mohan Das, her father, a businessman, said he guided her in co-curricular activities, especially in art and volleyball. Both of them said she was interested in science but that it was left to her to choose whatever she wished to study.


Appi Bai, Principal, Vishwa Mangala English Medium High School, described the Bharatanatyam dancer as “an all-rounder”, and as a “mild mannered, hardworking, intelligent girl, good in art, sports”. She said Manvitha has won prizes in art consistently and the latest is the third prize at the State-level in the Pratibha Karanji held this year. P. Pakirappa, president, Trustee, Vishwa Mangala Education Society, whose members are employees of Mangalore University, said that the 680-strong, 19-year-old, unaided school on Mangalore University campus had students from 8 to 10 surrounding villages including Pavoor, Harekala, Inoli, Pajir, Derlakatte and Thokkotu.

Manvitha aspires to study science in PUC and become a doctor.
