Bantwal: Police crack cattle theft case, accused arrested

Bantwal, Aug 28, 2025: The Bantwal Rural Police have successfully solved a cattle theft case reported from Kanchinadkapadavu in Ira village.

On March 23, a cow worth around Rs 12,000 had gone missing, following which a case was registered at the Bantwal Rural Police Station. After investigation, the police arrested the accused, Irshad, a resident of Azad Nagar, Mangaluru.


Cattle theft


It has come to light that the accused is involved in over 15 cases of cattle theft and illegal cattle transportation across Dakshina Kannada and several other districts. He was produced before the Bantwal court, which remanded him to judicial custody.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Dakshina Kannada SP Dr Arun K. IPS, Additional SP Anil Kumar S. Bhoomaraddi, and Bantwal DySP Vijay Pousad. Bantwal Rural Police Inspector Shivakumar B. led the team, which included PSIs Manjunath T. and Krishnakant Patil, Head Constables Prashanth, Lokesh, Krishna Naik, and constables Maruthi and Haleshappa.
