Bantwal: Man killed after being hit by an auto-rickshaw while crossing road

Bantwal, Oct 3, 2025: A tragic incident occurred at Amturu Cross in Kalladka, Bantwal taluk, where a man was struck by an auto-rickshaw while crossing the road, resulting in his death.
The deceased has been identified as Lokesh Moolya (44), a resident of Subhash Nagar in Sajeep Mood village.
According to police, Lokesh was crossing the road in front of Nair Petrol Pump in Kalladka when a speeding auto-rickshaw lost control after the collision and overturned. Lokesh, who sustained serious injuries, was admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru but succumbed to his injuries early this morning.
The auto-rickshaw was carrying the driver’s wife, children, and brother-in-law, all of whom escaped unharmed.
Lokesh was an active member of the Shri Sharada Pooja Mahotsava Committee in Subhash Nagar and participated in numerous social and religious activities. He is survived by his wife, two children, and extended family.
