BSR Congress founder refuses to respond to allegations

Udupi, Aug 2, 2012 : Shriramulu, founder of the Badava Shramika Raitha (BSR) Congress and former minister, refused to comment on his alleged involvement in the bail scam on grounds that the case is now in court. He, however, stated that he came to know that MLA Suresh Babu had referred to media reports to allege that he is involved in the bail scam, adding that he has enough confidence that the court will rule in his favor.

 

 

Mr. Shriramulu interacted with reporters when his Swabhiman Sankalpa Yatre reached Ramnagar from Karwar.

When reporters wanted to know the impacts of these allegations on his newly founded party, the independent MLA stated that his party will not be affected as it belongs to six crore people in Karnataka. Stating that his party is associated with the people of Karnataka, he said that allegations against one person will not have any effect on it.

Condemning the attack on students at the home stay in Padil by Hindu Janajagarana Vedike (HJV) workers, he expressed concerns over the repeated attacks on women in this part of the district. He said that the state government has received the police department’s report on this case, but he is not sure if the government will make the report public. Expressing his opinion that the matter needs to be investigated in depth, he said that HJV had no right to take the law in its own hands.

He demanded that the government must order a probe into the issue and appoint a retired judge to supervise the investigations. The government should then take the judge’s report into the consideration before framing an action plan to avoid such acts of violence against women in future.

Predicting trouble for the BJP in future because of its internal turmoil, he pointed that that the BJP government has changed CM’s thrice during its four years in power. He also predicted that the people of Karnataka will reject the BJP for its corrupt governance and involvement in scams and scandals. Speaking about the way the BJP treated Halady Shrinivas Shetty, he said that the BJP has absolutely no respect for honest and hard working members.  He said that he will consider the idea of inviting Halady to join the BSR Congress.

Speaking on the occasion, actress Rakshitha said that the government must take action against those involved in the Padil resort attack. She said that the women’s wing of the BSR Congress will take up this issue and will protest if the government fails to take action.
