BJP boisterously celebrates DVS’s victory

Mangalore, December 23, 2011: The Bharathiya Janatha Party (BJP), DK district unit, organized a vijayotsava in honor of CM D. V. Sadananada Gowda who emerged victorious in the Legislative Council by-polls held on Thursday.

Jubilant BJP workers met outside the district BJP office in Mangalore this morning, shouting slogans in praise of DVS, distributing sweets, and bursting crackers.

Monappa Bhandary, the former president of the district BJP, said that the victory of DVS, who secured 123 out of 192 votes, proves that the Congress’ divide and rule policy has not affected the BJP. The victory has also proved the words of G. Parameshwar and Siddaramaiah false as the Congress candidate Anand Gaddedevaramath secured just 69 votes.

Shailaja Bhat, the president of the ZP; Sumana Sharan, the general secretary of the BJP Mahila Morcha; and local BJP leaders Asha Jagadeesh, Sathish Kumpala, Rajagopal Rai, and Suresh Kumar also participated in the victory celebrations.
