BJP Mangaluru South holds massive foot march on VB-G RAM G, slams Congress over corruption allegations

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, Feb 19, 2026: A massive foot march was organized by the BJP Mangaluru South Assembly Constituency unit to create public awareness about the Central Government’s VB-G RAM G Act and to demand corruption-free governance in the state. The rally commenced from the BJP district office and proceeded up to the Mangaluru City Corporation office.

Speaking on the occasion, District President Satish Kumpala said that even Rajiv Gandhi had once admitted that when his government sanctioned one rupee, only a few paise actually reached the people, acknowledging the failure of the system. However, he claimed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, governance is being carried out without scope for even a single rupee of corruption. He added that the VB-G RAM G initiative is a continuation of this transparent governance and alleged that the Congress is opposing it without valid reasons.

MLA Vedavyas Kamath, who also addressed the gathering, said that while the VB-G RAM G Act provides greater employment opportunities to the poor, Congress leaders are opposing it, indicating hidden motives. He questioned whether increasing the number of workdays from 100 to 125 was wrong and asked what problem Congress had with measures aimed at benefiting the poor. He urged people not to believe the misinformation being spread against the VB-G RAM G scheme. He further alleged that thousands of crores of rupees were lost to corruption under the MGNREGA scheme, and claimed that the lack of such opportunities for corruption now has led to Congress’ frustration.

He criticized the Congress government’s administration, stating that people are fed up due to issues such as delays in getting e-khata, problems caused by jail jammers, and the shortage of red stone and sand. He questioned whether Congress leaders had undertaken any padayatra over these issues. Referring to Priyank Kharge’s remarks about the coastal region, he said Kharge should first understand how much more developed this region is compared to his own district, and recognize its contributions to the IT, education, and healthcare sectors.

Prominent leaders including Ramesh Kandettu, Ramesh Hegde, Lallesh Kumar, Tilak Raj Krishnapura, Poornima M., Sanjay Prabhu, Shanawaz, Jagannath, Sudheer Shetty Kannur, Nandan Mallya, Vasanth J. Poojary, Ravishankar Mijar, Nithin Kumar, Vijay Kumar Shetty, Ashwith Kottari, Rajagopal Rai, former corporators, BJP leaders, party workers, and members of the public were present.
