Udupi, May 8: The sleuths of Manipal police station have arrested two persons, who were allegedly planned to kill a person from Karkala. The arrests were made on May 7.

 

The arrested were identified as William D’Souza, a resident of Attur in Karkala and Kishen Hegde from Inna village of Padubidri.

Pravin Madhukar Pawar, superintendent of police Udupi district, said after the arrest that the culprits have hatched a plan to kill Jagadish Poojary alias Sanoor Jagga under the instruction of underworld criminal Vishwanath Koraga Shetty.

Earlier, a case had been registered against William D’Souza in connection with assaulting Lakshman Poojary from Nandalike. Soon after the attack, he had escaped to Solapur in Maharastra. After forming a plan to kill Jagadish Poohjary, William had come back to the district again with the assistance of Kishen Hegde. William and his friend had met many friends of Jagadish Poojary to gather information about his activities and movements, Pravin said.

William and Kishen Hegde have planned to kill Jagadish on April 30.  But their plan failed to work out, as jaggadish failed to reach the spot on time, where both culprits were waiting with sword to kill him.

Frustrated at the failure of the plan, Vishwanath Koraga Shetty had reportedly ordered William and Kishen to shoot Jagga dead. Vishwanath had also distributed eight bullets to execute the order. But before collecting gun at the End Point of Manipal, a team led by DySp Jayanth arrested the culprits.

Manipal police have lodged a case against both culprits in this regard. The arrests were made under the direction of Pravin Madhukar Pawar, SP, Udupi district and Jayant V Shetty, DySp, Udupi.  Circle inspector of police, H D Kulkarni, Kota sub-inspector of police, Mahesh Prasad, Manipal sub-inspector, Madhu T S, and other personnel were present.
