Mangalore, Sep 21, 2013 : A bid to do some experimentation with sodium outside the school laboratory by some students, left one of them injured in his eye.
The incident was reported from the St Rita Higher Primary School, Jeppu on September 16.
The injured boy is Amogh G (12), a class seven student and son of Ashok and Asha couple. He has now recovered from the injury, his parents informed.
According to Amogh, two of his friends called him when he was returning home on September 16 and took him near the school toilet. There they showed the sodium stolen from the laboratory and asked him to pour water on it.
A totally unaware Amogh did as they told him and soon the smoke that arose affected his eyes.
It is learnt, Amogh has recovered 80 per cent from the injury to his eyes, His father said the doctor has advised him two weeks’ rest.
