Mangaluru, August 15, 2021: The 75th Independence Day was celebrated at the Nehru Maidan on Sunday in the presence of a limited number of guests in the wake of Covid pandemic.
DK District in-charge Minister and State Minister for Fisheries, Ports and Inland Transport S Angara hoisted the National Tri-Colour and received the guard of honour.










In his Independence Day address, Angara said there was a need for an introspection to know if every citizen of this land feels the Amrita Sparsha on the occasion of its 75th Independence day. Recalling the valiant struggles and sacrifices made by freedom fighters, Angara said the challenge before everyone is to preserve this hard earned freedom.
He also elaborated on the various developmental projects undertaken in the district and stressed the need for everyone to join hands to fight Covid pandemic.
Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra, City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar, Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLAs Vedavyas Kamath U T Khader and others were present.
