Mangaluru, January 12, 2026: An incident involving the physical and mental assault of a migrant worker, allegedly after accusing him of being a Bangladeshi national, has been reported within the limits of the Kavoor Police Station.

The accused have been identified as Sagar, Dhanush, Lalu alias Rateesh, and Mohan, all residents of Kuloor.

FIR

The victim, Diljan Ansari, a native of Jharkhand, has been living as a migrant worker for the past 10–15 years. According to the complaint, the four accused repeatedly accused him of being a Bangladeshi national and assaulted him. Despite Ansari repeatedly stating that he was from Jharkhand, the accused allegedly ignored his explanation, demanded documents, and subjected him to harassment and abuse.

Due to fear of the assailants, Diljan Ansari initially hesitated to approach the police. After receiving information about the incident, the police immediately rushed to the spot and rescued the migrant worker, the Police Commissioner said.

A case has been registered against the four accused under various sections, including charges of attempt to murder.
