Muralidhar Prabhu, the industrialist of Kumta, said in his key-note address that the Konkani language originated in Goa about 2000 years ago. Speaking about the connection between food and culture, he said that parents are hardly interested in inculcating cultural values in their children. Instead, they just focus only on giving nutritious food to their children. Many still believe that fish eating enhances intelligence. But, there are a number of vegetarians who are just as or more intelligent than fish eaters, he pointed out. He also said that networking is essential to find out the number of GSB families in the community.

Srikar Prabhu, a social worker of Mangalore, said that it is generally believed that the presence of GSBs in a sector is bound to lead to success. He said that the community occupied the number one position in every field and urged that the trend must continue. Dr. Bhujang Pai, an eminent doctor of Mumbai, said that the future holds a lot of promises for the GSBs, who have a rich cultural background.

P Dayanand Pai, the philanthropist, said in his presidential speech that the GSBs are basically from North Kanara. Later, they moved to South Kanara and finally moved to Goa and Cochin. The community is always migrating from one place to another, he pointed out. He advised young people to work hard to reach their goals. He said that one continues to feel young only if one lives happily. He advised the youth to accept challenges and expect happiness to follow these challenges. One cannot reach great heights by dreaming alone, but also by perseverance, he said.

Speaking about marriage, one of the issues dealt with during the sammelan, he said the majority of the marriages break for trivial reasons. He said that small adjustments need to be made in order to make a marital union successful. He also said that people who have a calling to serve must get into action immediately; otherwise, they might not get the time.

M R Kamath, the advisor of Kodial Khaber, felicitated Vishwa Konkani Sardar Basti Vaman Shenoy, who said that members of a community who do not tolerate the success of members of the same community lack culture. He pointed out that some GSBs do not support and encourage GSBs in politics.
