Bengaluru daycare abuse: Whistleblower was fired after reporting mistreatment of toddlers

Mangalore Today News Network

Bengaluru, Jul 2, 2026: A former employee who reportedly flagged the alleged abuse of toddlers at a daycare operating inside Capgemini’s Bengaluru campus was fired after informing the management.

The employee had earlier reported the mistreatment to the daycare supervisor but no action was taken. Instead, the whistleblower allegedly lost their job, according to an NDTV report citing Probation Officer Tilakesh Kumar.

Kumar also said officials had long suspected child abuse at the facility but lacked evidence until disturbing videos surfaced this week.

Official Claims Abuse Had Been Going On For Long

According to Kumar, the daycare had around 50 to 60 children enrolled, with nearly 15 to 20 attending every day.

“This has been happening for a long time," he was quoted as saying by the outlet, adding that authorities had earlier received indications of abuse but were unable to establish the allegations.

He said the situation changed after the complainant shared videos documenting the alleged abuse, prompting immediate action by the authorities.

Videos Showed Toddlers Allegedly Being Abused

The videos, which were later submitted to the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, allegedly show children as young as two years old being subjected to abuse.

Some clips reportedly show toddlers being made to sit inside a washing machine while water is sprayed at them using a jet. Other videos allegedly show children being locked inside bathrooms.

“The people who are supposed to take care of the children… they abuse them because the children cry or make some sound. To stop them crying, they take the child and put him/her inside washing machines and lock them in the bathroom… this is the complaint we got," Kumar said.

He added that after receiving the complaint, officials contacted the complainant, obtained the videos and immediately approached the police to register a case.

What’s The case?

The alleged abuse came to light after a complaint was made to the children’s helpline, following which the District Child Protection Unit launched an inquiry.

Authorities say the daycare was operating inside Capgemini’s Bengaluru campus and catered to the children of the company’s employees.

Five Caregivers Booked

Police have registered a case against five caregivers in connection with the alleged abuse. The videos have also been forwarded to the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights as part of the investigation.

Meanwhile, Capgemini said the health, safety and well-being of its employees and their families remain its highest priority.

The company said it is fully cooperating with the investigation and has temporarily shut the daycare facility as a precautionary measure.
