Mangaluru, Aug. 18, 2026: Dr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder President of Thumbay Group and Founder Patron of the Bearys Cultural Forum (BCF), was conferred the Global Leadership Award for Quality & Innovation 2026 at the BCF Educational Scholarship Meet held at Town Hall in Mangaluru on Sunday.

The award was presented by Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Minister U.T. Khader, who inaugurated the event.

In a major highlight of the programme, Dr. Moideen announced and personally handed over a ₹1.5 crore scholarship covering the full cost of the Thumbay International Pathway Program (TIPP) to a deserving student. The six-year medical programme enables students to complete three years of study at Gulf Medical University, Ajman, followed by three years at a partner medical university in Uzbekistan, leading to the award of an MD degree.

The gesture drew appreciation from the gathering and underscored Dr. Moideen’s commitment to supporting meritorious students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

The event was jointly organised by the Bearys Cultural Forum (BCF), Dubai, and the Bearys Cultural Forum Trust, Mangaluru. Besides the award presentation, scholarships were distributed to SSLC and PUC toppers from across Karnataka. Free sewing machines were also distributed to underprivileged women, while a business seminar formed part of the programme.

Among those present were former MLC and Fiza Group Managing Director B.M. Farooq, BCF UAE President Dr. B.K. Yusuf, who presided over the function, and Dr. Nissar Ahmed, Chancellor of Presidency University. Several MLAs, MLCs, senior police and district officials, and community leaders from India and the Gulf countries also attended.

Speaking after receiving the award, Dr. Moideen reflected on Thumbay Group’s nearly three-decade journey in healthcare, education and community development. He reiterated his commitment to expanding access to quality education and creating opportunities for deserving students across India and the Gulf region.

The Global Leadership Award for Quality & Innovation recognises individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and excellence in their respective fields. Dr. Moideen has earned international recognition for his contributions to healthcare and higher education through the growth of Thumbay Group and Gulf Medical University.

Over the years, he has received five honorary doctorates from reputed international universities and has been recognised among the Arab world’s leading business personalities and the most influential NRIs from Karnataka in the Gulf region.
