Haryana, July 3, 2025: Dr Shraddha Chauhan, an 80-year-old woman, has become the oldest Indian woman to complete a tandem skydive. On her 80th birthday, she jumped from a height of 10,000 feet, marking her entry into the record books.

Despite facing health challenges like vertigo, cervical spondylitis, and spinal disc issues, Dr Chauhan accomplished this feat at Skyhigh India, located at Narnaul Airstrip in Haryana, about two hours from Delhi. This site is the country’s only certified civilian drop zone.

Foot skydive

A video shared by Skyhigh India’s official Instagram account captured Dr Chauhan preparing for her jump with the assistance of her son, Retired Brigadier Saurabh Singh Shekhawat, one of India’s most decorated Army officers.

In the clip, he expressed his pride and honour at jumping with his mother on her 80th birthday, saying “Happy Birthday" as she kissed him on the cheek.

Dr Chauhan shared her joy, stating, “The desire I had in my heart to fly in the sky like an aeroplane, today my son has fulfilled that wish. It’s a very proud moment."

The video shows the brigadier helping his mother with stretches and warm-up exercises before the flight. Onboard the aircraft, he assisted her with the gear, and moments later, they free-fell together, with a GoPro camera capturing their exhilarating descent.

Upon landing, Dr Chauhan made history, and many gathered to congratulate her and wish her a happy birthday.

The caption accompanying the video read, “She is now the oldest Indian woman to do a tandem skydive – and the oldest to do so within India. A mother. A milestone. A moment that soared. Courage knows no age. Love has no altitude."
