Bantwal: Young photographer dies in two-bike collision

Bantwal, Mar 14, 2026: A photographer was killed in a tragic accident involving two motorcycles at Panemangaluru in Bantwal.

The deceased has been identified as Rakshit Shetty (43), a resident of Shambhoor. According to police, the accident occurred on the night of March 14 when two motorcycles collided at Vanemangaluru. Rakshit, who sustained serious injuries, was admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru but succumbed to his injuries today despite treatment.

Rakshit was an active member of the Bantwal unit of the Photographers’ Association and was known as a highly skilled videographer.

Tragically, preparations were underway at his home to celebrate his daughter’s 10th birthday on March 15, but the house that was meant to host a joyful celebration is now mourning his untimely death.

Rakshit’s brother, Ranjith, had also been injured in an accident several years ago and has been bedridden since then. The already struggling family is now left devastated, having lost its main breadwinner.
