Mangalore, Jan 18, 2014: Sullia Town Panchayat member KM Musthafa said that around 16 youths in the district continue to be rowdy-sheeters for no faults.
He was addressing the meeting convened by Karnataka State Human Rights Commission (KSHRC) member Meera Saxena at DC Office on Jan 18, Saturday. Musthafa said that all these youths were booked for communal riots in 1997 and were acquitted by the court in 1999. But as per police record, they still remain to be rowdy-sheeters.
He also said that no cases have been registered against youths before or after 1997 and these youths are struggling to get a passport in their names.
After hear grievances, Meera said to hold discussion with the superintendent of police Shanthanu Sinha in this regard.
Another complainant, Hasanabba Ammembala said that his request for a construction of public toilet at Pumpwell has not been considered by the concerned authorities.
Speaking on the complaint on land issue, Meera said that the matters which are pending before courts cannot be taken up by the commission.
Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim, Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat CEO Tulsi Maddineni and additional deputy commissioner KA Dayanand were present.
