Youngsters arrested for driving dangerously in city

Mangalore, July 21, 2012: The Kadri police have nabbed two youngsters for driving dangerously in the heart of the city on July 20, Friday. 

The driver, who is in his early twenties, first hit a Maruthi Omni and then an auto rickshaw parked in front of St. Mary’s School. He then sped away toward S. L. Mathais Road and took the turn too fast, owing to which the car turned turtle and came to a stop right in front of the “School Zone – Drive Slow” board.

 

The auto rickshaw that was hit had a few school children in it, but no one was hurt. The youngsters’ car, a Hyundai i20 bearing registration plates KL 14 J 3055, has been damaged.

The accident caused a traffic block that lasted for a long time. The police, with the help of the local people, helped clear the mess. The Kadri traffic police have registered a case. 

If the accident had taken place five minutes later, a number of innocent school children might have either lost their lives or sustained injuries. It was, therefore, a lucky escape for the kids.
