Mangalore, August 19: A two-day Photography Exhibition featuring the works of photojournalist Dayananda Kukkaje was inaugurated at the auditorium of St. Aloysius College this morning by Y. Sudhir Kumar Shetty, Chief Operating Officer of UAE Exchange. The exhibition is organized jointly by Daijiworld Media Pvt. Ltd., and Sarang Community Radio of the Department of Mass Communication, St. Aloysius College as part of the daijiworld.com’s decennial celebrations and World Photography Day. The exhibition is open to the public Aug. 19th & 20th at the same venue from 10 A. M. to 6 P. M.

In his inaugural speech, the chief guest, Y. Sudhir Kumar Shetty observed that any person with creative thought and vision can achieve success in life. He added that photographers add flavor to their photographs in order to bring them to life.


President of Beary Sahitya Academy Abdul Rehman was the guest of honour. In his address, he pointed out that photographs add to the newsworthiness of a report and added that news stories come to life when they are presented with photographs. He also said that photographs must reflect life, nature and culture and that every photographer must develop his/her creative power.


Fr. Swebert D’Silva, Principal of St. Aloysius College, in his address as Guest of Honour lauded the talent of Dayanand Kukkaje and said that his achievements should inspire other youngsters.   


Presenting his works, Dayananda Kukkaje said that he has so far put up 9 exhibitions in his career of 6 years. In the present exhibition, he has displayed 190 of his best, he added.


Veteran photojournalist Yajna and Ravi Posavanike, photographer of Times of India, will conduct an interactive workshop on photography as part of the two-day event. Astro Mohan, the photographer of Udayavani, Manipal will also deliver a talk on Photography.


Walter Nandalike, Editor-In-Chief of Daijiworld.com welcomed the gathering and expressed his appreciation of all those who have supported the young photojournalist’s talent.
