World Konkani Youth Fest held at Kalaangan

Mangalore, Nov 28: The Vishwa Konkani Yuva Mel (World Konkani Youth Fest) was organized in Kalaangan as part of the World Konkani Cultural Convention on Nov 28, Sunday. A number of young people participated in competitions such as acting, singing, dancing, and compeering in a bid to win the World Best Youth Team title.

The Edapadavu Kudumi youth inaugurated the World Konkani Youth Fest by building a human pyramid while the Konkani flag was hoisted by Raymond D’Souza.

In his inaugural address, Raymond urged the youth to preserve their culture and heritage.

Youth Fest Organizer Denis D’Silva and Mandd Sobhann President Louis J. Pinto were present.


The comperer was Santhosh D’Costa of Neermarga. Around 20 teams from all over Goa, Mumbai, Karnataka, and Kerala participated in the competitions.

Some of the participating teams were Manglur Samskri Hosabettu, Sheethal Thrasajo Pangad Mangalore, ICYM Narampady, Balehonnur Group, Jivit, Madgaoncho Zagor, Manglurchi Tara, Mumbai Group, Chikmagalur Team, FKCA Bangalore, Arth Production, Udenthechem, Kasargod Group, Brijitine Friends Mangalore, Honnavar Team, Moodubidri Team, and Konkan Sallkam.

This afternoon, beauty contests to select Miss Konkani Photogenic, Mr. Konkani Photogenic, Ms. Konkani World, Mr. Konkani World for the unwed between the ages of 18 and 25 will be held at Kalaangan.
