Addressing protestors, Shalet Pinto complained that the government has not provided any benefits for widows, physically challenged, the elderly, and other beneficiaries. Urging the government to provide funds for the development of backward communities, she said that opportunities should be provided to the street vendors for conducting their business.

Complaining that the poor are unable to construct houses because of shortage of sand, Anitha Hemanath Shetty, an ex member of the Zilla Panchayat, said that the district administration must simplify sand rules and make it easily accessible to the poor.

She also said that the Mangalore City Corporation must provide licenses to people to construct houses in 3 cents land. Stating that 50 percent of poor people have not received ration cards, she said that it should be distributed among all the beneficiaries. She also complained that there has been absolutely no development after the BJP came to power.

Corporators Mamatha Shenoy, Appi, and Gretta Rebello, ex corporator Hilda Alva, District President Mamatha Gatty, and others were also present.
