Woman files cheating case against lover

Udupi, April 19 ,2012: Sameera Saidu of Kappalandimukku in Kochi in Kerala has lodged a complaint against Adip Kumar Chikkayya Shetty of Amparu Grama in Kundapura, in which she alleged that he had cheated her after promising to marry her.

The Kundapur police initially refused to register a complaint as the complainant was cheated in Dubai. However, when the complainant pulled in the media, the police registered a case.

Sameera has stated in her complaint that she was working as a waitress in Rami Guest Line Hotel in Rigga in Dubai, where Adip Shetty was working as a cashier, when they met and fell in love. The couple also decided to get married.

Later Sameera got transferred to Oman, but resigned when Adip urged her to do so, came back to Dubai on Feb 17, and got a job in some other hotel. Adip arranged a visiting visa for her and received Rs. 3 lakh or Dhirams 24,000 from Sameera for this purpose. He also arranged an apartment for her and forced her to have sex with him. Sameera got pregnant and also had a natural miscarriage. He also asked her to have sex with his Kundapur colleagues Rajesh Shetty, Harish Shetty, and Eshwara and when she refused, he physically and mentally tortured her. Sameera stated in her complaint that he tried using her to make money.

The complainant also stated that, on March 3, Adip stole her jewelry and purse and walked out of her life. The hotel staff confiscated her visa as she did not have money to pay the rent. Finally, she had to use her gold chain to release her visa. She alleged that Adip has resigned and come back to India.

Stating that she has already lodged a complaint against Adip at the Indian Embassy in Dubai, she said that she left Dubai and came back to India just to lodge a complaint against him in the Kundapur police station. She also stated that the police asked her to complain in Dubai because she had been cheated in Dubai, to which she argued that the accused is now in Kundapur and she wants a case registered against him and proper action taken against him.

The complainant has also furnished documents proving that she had sent Rs. 49,900 to Mr. Bijadi and Rs. 49,900 to Basava Kulal through her mother in Kochi at the request of Adip, Rs. 77,000 to Adip’s elder brother Arunkumar Shetty, Rs. 25,000 to Adip himself, and Rs. 13,000 to Adip’s sister in Oman.
