Wild elephant that killed two persons in Kadaba, dies in Kodagu

Subrahmanya, Aug 12, 2023: The wild elephant that was responsible for the death of two persons at Renjilady in Kadaba taluk recently and was later trapped, has died at the Mattigodu elephant camp of Kodagu district.

Soon after it was trapped in Kadaba, the pachyderm was shifted to the elephant camp where it died on August 11, Friday. The post-mortem of the elephant was later conducted.

It may be recalled here that Ranjitha (24) and Ramesh Rai (58) of Renjilady village had died in the elephant attack on February 20 at Naila near Meenady of Kadaba taluk.

Later an operation was launched to trap the wild pachyderm following pressure from locals. Five elephants from the Dubare and Tithimathi elephant camps were used for the operation and the two elephants were trapped on the third day of the operation.
